Chapter Eighteen

Ella’s heart thumped in her chest, and she was certain Dakar could hear it, as he stared hungrily down at her. What was she doing? This was exactly what she wasn’t supposed to do. She’d come there to tell him they needed to stop, that it was too dangerous. They were going to get caught, someone was going to find out, and the shit would hit the fan. Then why had she done the exact opposite and suggest they screw each other until they got it out of their systems?

Brilliant, Ella. When has sleeping with someone ever made things less complicated?

She knew it would be worse for him, since Drexian warriors were held up to high standards and expected to follow strict rules. Honor was a big deal for them, and messing around with her would not be looked on as an honorable action. Realizing just how much trouble he could get into because of her, she started to pull away. “Maybe I should go. This was a bad idea.”

He caught her by the waist. “I can’t let you go.”

“Dakar,” she said. “If anyone finds out, it could be really bad for you. I don’t want to be the reason you get shipped off to a penal colony.”

He chuckled as he traced a finger down her cheek. “Drexians don’t do penal colonies. Why don’t you let me worry about it?”

Ella’s cheeks burned, and she looked down. She wasn’t used to this kind of attention. Sure, men had always noticed her, but she’d been able to brush off catcalls and drunk bar patrons pretty easily. This was something else. The way Dakar looked at her was different, and the intensity of his gaze made it impossible to resist him.

He lifted her face. “Trust me when I say you’re worth the risk.” Lowering his mouth to hers, he kissed her—first softly, then deeper.

She leaned into his embrace as ripples of pleasure coursed through her. His hands tangled in her hair, pulling her head back as his tongue teased hers. Then they were roaming her body, moving from her back to span her waist, and then cupping her breasts. He squeezed gently, thumbing her hard nipples through her shirt, and she moaned.

Ella was vaguely aware of him unbuttoning her blouse and slipping it over her shoulders, before unhooking her bra with one hand. The air hit her exposed breasts, and the flesh around her nipples puckered, making her shiver.

“Let me warm you,” Dakar murmured, bending down and capturing one nipple in his mouth.

She clasped her hands on his shoulders as he lavished attention on first one hard nipple and then the other, his tongue hot and urgent. It was all she could do not to dig her fingernails into his flesh.

Feeling a desperate desire to touch his bare skin, Ella yanked his shirt up. Dakar helped her by pulling it over his head, his stomach tightening when she ran both hands down his corded muscles. She loved the way his smooth, bronze skin looked against her own tan flesh.
